Published on July 25, 2019, Mount Kenya University has joined the ranks of other institutions like Daystar and Strathmore Universities in enforcing a strict dress code for its learners.
The private higher learning institution, with campuses across Kenya, circulated a memo outlining the dress code rules that students must adhere to.
According to the notice, students are not allowed to wear clothes or pants that reveal their 'private body parts.'
Additionally, learners are prohibited from wearing caps or hats during lectures, in the library, laboratory, or when addressing staff members.
Male students are also expected to maintain well-groomed hair at all times, while female students are barred from wearing see-through clothes, bare-backs, mini-skirts, crop-tops, and low cleavage attire.
Students who fail to comply with the dress code will be sent home to change, with disciplinary measures to be taken after the third warning.
