Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion were involved in a heated exchange of words over new measures to prevent exam cheating.

The dispute began after Sossion objected to the new rules introduced by the CS, which ban midterms, visiting days, prayers' day, and other social activities during the third term. According to the Nation, Dr. Matiang'i explained in a text message to Sossion that he had consulted widely with teachers' unions, including KNUT, before announcing the changes.
