A contest for the Kabete seat has emerged among allies of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The seat became vacant following the assassination of George Muchai. It has drawn interest from Ferdinand Waititu, a city politician, and Lewis Nguyai, a former MP for the larger Kikuyu constituency.
Both Nguyai and Waititu, citing their legislative experience, are urging voters to support them over less experienced candidates, given the limited time before another election.
The entry of Kiambu Governor William Kabogo into the situation is also noteworthy, as he has expressed unease about Waititu shifting his focus from Nairobi to Kiambu politics.
