On July 24, 2019, newly-installed Prime Minister Boris Johnson made a significant appointment, naming Dominic Raab as Britain's foreign secretary.
As part of the same announcement, Raab was also named as Johnson's effective deputy.
Notably, Raab had previously resigned as Brexit minister in Theresa May's government, citing concerns that the divorce deal she struck with Brussels offered too many compromises.
