Elijah Memusi of the Orange Democratic Movement has won the Kajiado Central by-election, taking the position left vacant by retired Major General Joseph Nkaissery after his appointment as Interior Cabinet Secretary.
Memusi secured 16,008 votes. His closest competitor, Patrick Tutui of the Jubilee Alliance Party, received 15,508 votes, while independent candidate Kuntai Nkashuma garnered 100 votes.
Kajiado Central By-Election Results ¶
The election saw a high voter turnout of 79.95 percent. Out of 31,616 votes cast, 57 were spoilt. Although the turnout was lower than the 92 percent recorded in 2013, it remains the highest among all parliamentary by-elections held since 2013.
