Ahead of the 2017 election, the National Super Alliance (NASA) coalition, comprising the Luo, Kamba, and Luhya communities, had a combined total of 5.4 million registered voters, according to Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) figures.
The breakdown shows 2.1 million registered Luos, primarily in the Nyanza region, 1.6 million Luhya voters, and 1.7 million Kamba voters.
In contrast, the Jubilee coalition, which includes the Kikuyu and Kalenjin communities, had a combined 5.3 million votes. However, when considering the votes of the Embu and Meru communities, often aligned with the Kikuyu, the total rises to 6.5 million votes, surpassing the NASA coalition by 1.2 million votes.
Given the voting patterns, with regions like the Coast, Nyamira, Kisii, and a portion of the Maasai community expected to support NASA, the outcome may hinge on voter turnout.
