The National Alliance Party, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, held secret party nominations for the Mathare constituency by-elections on Monday.
The nominations took place at the Mathare P.C.E.A Church, but the media was barred from covering the event.
A clerk involved in the nominations, speaking anonymously to Ghetto Radio News, reported that at least five candidates participated in the nomination exercise.
Candidates whose names were considered for nominations included George Wanjohi, the former MP, as well as Gabriel Muthuma, Jacson Mutungi, Samuel Ndung'u, and Duncan Muasya.
By Tuesday evening, the winner had not been officially announced due to the secretive nature of the tallying process.
Some party members expressed dissatisfaction with the handling of the exercise and called for the nominations to be repeated.
