Lupita Nyong'o visited her home in Ratta Village, accompanied by her team and friends, for the first time in about two years. The visit included her mentoring projects for young people.
The Oscar-winning actress's homecoming party featured Eric Omondi as the master of ceremonies, making the event enjoyable. However, Lupita became emotional after listening to a choral verse recited by pupils from Mariwa Primary School in Kisumu County, which addressed the state of insecurity in the country.
The choral verse moved Lupita to tears as she took notes. At one point, she was seen trying to hold back her tears.
During her speech, Lupita urged the younger generation to find their purpose in life, saying:
You may face many challenges at home, and your parents might be poor, or you could be living with relatives who are not supportive, feeling alone in the world. Let this not define you or your future. You were created to achieve more and be the best the world can have.
