President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party is set to lose more members to opposition leader Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement Party.
Raila will receive high-profile members of the Jubilee Party from Narok county who will be defecting to ODM at his Capitol Hill offices on Thursday, February 23.
This comes hours after more Jubilee Party members defected to the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party on Wednesday, February 22. The defectors were received by KANU chairman Gideon Moi.
On Tuesday, February 21, Jubilee Party suffered another blow when close to 100 members from Embu county defected to the Party of National Unity (PNU). The members were received by PNU chairman Peter Munya.
According to Raphael Tuju, the party secretariat head, those running away from Jubilee to other parties are doing so at their own peril. He stated,
"Those running away from Jubilee to other parties are doing so at their own peril. We will field Jubilee candidates in all the areas. We have not signed any pact with any political party or coalition,"
Tuju said.
Kenya will go to the polls on August 8, 2017, and Uhuru is determined to retain his seat amid sustained competition from the opposition NASA.
