A woman from Machakos, Jackline Mwende, who lost her hands in a violent attack by her husband due to claims of infertility, is now pregnant and rebuilding her life.
Following the incident, which drew widespread outrage after photos of her injuries were shared online, well-wishers contributed to her medical expenses, enabling her to receive prosthetic limbs.
A German pharmaceutical organization has provided Mwende with a new house, which will be her home and that of her unborn child. Additionally, she will receive a monthly stipend of Sh 25,000 from the organization.
Mwende has stated that although the experience was extremely painful, she has forgiven her husband. However, she believes he should still face the full force of the law for his actions.
Her husband, Stephen Ngila, is currently out on bond and faces murder charges, with a hearing scheduled for later this month.
