Kenyans on Facebook are searching for a homeless man who returned Sh200,000 that had fallen out of a bag to its owner.
The story was shared on the Facebook group Buyer Beware, where members are trying to find the man to reward him for his honesty.
According to the post, the owner was on his way to deposit his business sales when two bundles of money fell out of the bag. A young homeless man ran after him, signaling him to stop, and returned the money.
The homeless man, identified as Vincent Omondi, explained that he returned the money because it could be someone's school fees or hospital bill, saying "inaeza Kuwa ni pesa ya school fees ama mtu ako mgonjwa mahali sasa siwezi chukua".
Omondi has a Facebook profile under the name Vince Dancer, which indicates that he is an IT graduate from St Paul’s University and previously worked in a supermarket before struggling with drug addiction.
A previous story about Omondi aired by NTV, in which he shared his life story with business news anchor Laban Cliff Onserio, has resurfaced online.
His former classmates, who graduated with him in 2012, have confirmed his story and are trying to help him get off the streets and into rehab, and eventually find a job. A Facebook group named STITCH is also working to generate funds to support Omondi.
