Jaque Maribe has been trending for negative reasons, including being mentioned in relation to the #ActivistsofDoom video, despite having no connection to it.
Activist Boniface Mwangi accused Dennis Itumbi, Director of Digital Communications in the Office of the President, of releasing the #ActivistsofDoom video as a distraction. Mwangi claimed this was done after it was realized that multiple individuals had been involved with the same woman.
Oliver Mathenge, a journalist at The Star newspaper and Maribe's ex-boyfriend, defended her on Twitter.
