Researchers at Tel Aviv University have found that prolonged sitting can lead to an increase in fat cells in the buttocks.
The study revealed that 'cellular expansion' plays a significant role in fat production. When fat cells are exposed to sustained pressure, such as when sitting down, they experience accelerated growth of lipid droplets, resulting in a 50 percent increase in size.
According to the researchers, 'contrary to muscle and bone tissue, which get mechanically weaker with disuse, fat depots in fat cells expanded when they experienced sustained loading by as much as 50 percent.' This discovery may be of interest to individuals seeking to increase the size of their buttocks.
