On July 24, 2019, Ugandan musician and politician Bobi Wine, also known as Robert Kyagulanyi, officially announced his candidacy for the 2021 presidential election.

Speaking at a press conference in Magere, Bobi Wine stated that he is ready to challenge incumbent President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power for over three decades.

According to Bobi Wine, the time for change has come, and he believes that the 2021 election will be a genuine and fair contest.

As part of his campaign, Bobi Wine has already formed a dedicated team to lead his presidential bid.

President Museveni, who is 74 years old, has been cleared by the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party to contest for the presidency for the sixth time.
