Police have designated certain areas as "no-go zones" ahead of an anticipated demonstration by teachers, while assuring that the protests will not be disrupted.
According to Police spokesman Charles Owino, protesters should avoid private schools and boarding schools where students are studying independently. Public schools with ongoing studies will receive protection, and demonstrators are prohibited from carrying weapons.
A prayer meeting for teachers commenced at Uhuru Park in Nairobi on Wednesday morning, with several union representatives in attendance to provide moral support.
Education Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi emphasized that teachers must return to school, stating that their current strike is unprotected.
When questioned about a potential meeting between the ministry, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), and Deputy President William Ruto to resolve the impasse, Prof Kaimenyi declined to comment.
