A 21-year-old student at Moi University, Kitale Campus, was rescued from a coffin where he had been locked for two weeks by kidnappers.
Ivan Jack Otieno was dragged by men who tricked him into accompanying them to a pub claiming that they wanted some assistance regarding a course offered at the university.
The kidnappers wanted a ransom of Sh 8,000,000 before releasing him, which the family was unable to raise. However, thanks to a Good Samaritan, he was rescued and reunited with his family in Trans Nzoia.
According to investigations, the kidnappers wanted to get even with his mother after she refused to award them a tender at the institution.
