The Jubilee Party has lost 12 more politicians to the Kenya African National Union (KANU) ahead of the primaries.
These politicians, including Members of County Assembly (MCAs) and aspirants, cited a lack of ethnic balance within the Jubilee Party as their reason for defecting.
On Tuesday, February 21, the defectors were received at the KANU headquarters in Nairobi by West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo and Nominated Senator Zipporah Kittony.
According to the defectors, both the Jubilee Party and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) do not represent the diverse face of the country.
Mandera MCA Ali Kulane is quoted by the Standard as saying, "CORD and Jubilee have already created a problem before we even hold elections. Kenyans are looking for a third party and that party is Kanu,"
The defections occur at a time when KANU has not yet clarified whether it will support the Jubilee Party or the newly formed National Super Alliance (NASA) in the upcoming elections.
