A plan by some students to confront Al Shabaab terrorists during the Garissa attack has come to light.

According to Mr. Bervin Cheruiyot, a second-year education student and former student chairman, he and his colleagues had decided to fight back against the terrorists after realizing they would likely be killed anyway.

Cheruiyot stated that they had planned to attack one of the terrorists, named Mohammud, and use his weapons to kill the rest. However, Mohammud allegedly noticed their plan and kept a close watch on them.

"We became brave because we could not run. We had witnessed the Al Shabaab slaughter one student after another and we didn’t want to join the statistics while lying down. We had sworn to die fighting," Cheruiyot said.

Some of Cheruiyot's friends were shot dead, and the plan was ultimately foiled. Cheruiyot himself survived by hiding in blood.
