Kenya Airports Authority to Auction Abandoned Aircraft ¶
Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced plans to auction off abandoned aircraft at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, with prices ranging from KSh 94,300 to KSh 10 million.
The auction is scheduled to take place on August 9, after potential buyers have been given the opportunity to inspect the aircraft on July 26.
The aircraft in question include a BE 55 Baron, registered as 5Y-AUS, which will be sold for KSh 94,300, and a Hulanda, registered as 5H-KLA, which will be sold for KSh 10,045,000.
According to KAA, the aircraft have been left at the airport for years and pose a safety risk.
The auction is a result of KAA's decision to give the owners of the 15 aircraft 30 days to pay the fees for parking and maintenance or have the aircraft auctioned off.
Some of the companies whose aircraft will be auctioned off include Safe Air Company, Flyy 540, Kenya Racing Team, Arvin Pahwa/Queensway Air Express, Profile Investment, and IAP Group Australia.
