Somalia-based terror group Al Shabaab has clashed with ISIS over control of East Africa, including Kenya.
This conflict arises from ISIS plans to expand into East Africa, allegedly to increase terror attacks, which Al Shabaab has not been doing to the extent ISIS desires.
According to reports, ISIS views Al Shabaab as too lenient in its terrorist activities and seeks to demonstrate its own interpretation of jihad.
In response, Al Shabaab has warned ISIS to stay out of East Africa, considering it their territory, and has vowed to kill ISIS terrorists like insects if they enter.
This development occurs amidst a split within Al Shabaab, as some fighters have pledged allegiance to ISIS, while the top leadership remains loyal to Al Qaeda.
