Leaders from pastoralist communities have urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to extend the voter registration exercise period due to hunger and insecurity in the region, which they say has left many residents unregistered.
According to West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapou, who led the call, many residents will be unable to register as the exercise nears its end, with only three days remaining. In West Pokot County, only 27,000 residents have been registered, leaving over 300,000 at risk of being locked out of the process.
