More than 16,000 Kenyans gathered at the Carnivore grounds in Nairobi to participate in the annual Safaricom Diabetes Walk, aimed at raising funds to support economically disadvantaged children.
The event, organized by the Kenya Diabetes Management and Information Centre (DMI Centre), also seeks to create awareness about diabetes.
According to Executive Director Eva Muchemi, the walk was a success, and she urged Kenyans to be more aggressive and dedicated in dealing with diabetes.
Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore noted that the walk would help less fortunate families access insulin, which currently costs over 6,000 shillings per month.
