Former President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria writes in the third volume of his memoir, My Watch, about being jailed after attending the funeral of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga in Kenya.
In the chapter titled ‘The Abaha Saga’, Obasanjo recounts how he attended the funeral rites of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga at the invitation of Raila Odinga, only to face detention by Nigerian police upon his return. This action followed recommendations from the then-ruling KANU regime in Kenya.
Obasanjo explains, "I was invited by Raila for the final funeral rites for his father, Jaramogi Oginga, and for the dedication of his mausoleum in Kenya."
