A recent opinion poll conducted by Ipsos indicates that President Uhuru Kenyatta would win the presidential election if it were held today, garnering 47% of the total votes, while CORD leader Raila Odinga would come second with 30% of the votes.
According to the survey results released on Monday, February 20, Uhuru would receive significant support in his main political bastion of Central, collecting 84% of the votes, while Raila would only gather 5% from the same region.
However, Raila remains popular in the Coast region, where he would receive 46% of the votes, compared to Uhuru's 26%. Additionally, Raila would collect 73% of the votes in his Nyanza political bastion, while Uhuru would get 18%.
In Nairobi, the survey shows a close contest between the two leaders, with Uhuru receiving 34% support and Raila receiving 40%. In other regions, Uhuru leads in popularity in Eastern with 44%, while Raila has 13% support, and in North Eastern, Uhuru has 62% support, while Raila has 14%.
The survey also shows that other presidential candidates, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, and Wetangula, would receive significantly fewer votes, with 6%, 3%, and 0% respectively.
