Gender violence remains a significant issue affecting individuals in relationships, regardless of their profession or social status. Notable cases include popular American pop singer Rihanna, who was beaten by her boyfriend Chris Brown, and Kenyan journalist Anne Kiguta, who shared her experience of being physically abused by her boyfriend while working at KTN.

Ebru TV news anchor Kamene Goro has also come forward to share her experience of being terribly beaten by her first boyfriend. In an interview with a leading Kenyan entertainment website, Goro recounted the incident and her decision to report the matter to the police station.

Goro emphasized that she does not tolerate gender violence and believes that there are alternative ways to resolve issues in a relationship. She stated,

"Women should take a stand, submission is okay but social injustice is not allowed. Women should be respected as we are not there by default,"

By speaking out about her past experience, Goro hopes to inspire others who may be in similar situations to seek help and leave abusive relationships. Her bravery is acknowledged, along with others who have shared their stories to raise awareness against gender violence.
