A confrontation between Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and Governor Evans Kidero occurred in public while they were accompanying Deputy President William Ruto to Gikomba market. The visit was to console traders who had lost properties worth millions of shillings in an early morning fire.
Sonko, standing next to Kidero, addressed him directly, saying "Governor mimi si drug dealer". Kidero appeared agitated by the remark but responded by smiling and shaking his head as the crowd cheered.
