A sequence of events surrounding the death of Meshack Yebei has raised questions about the circumstances of his murder.
After speculation emerged that Yebei had been a prosecution witness at the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) issued a denial, stating that he was not a witness. However, the OTP admitted to having offered Yebei protective custody abroad, which he reportedly declined, choosing to remain in Kenya.
