A High Court order has been issued to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). The order directs the LSK not to condition the issuance of advocates' practicing licenses on members' contributions toward the construction of the LSK's planned International Arbitration Centre in Nairobi.
High Court Judge Lady Justice Mumbi Ngugi, sitting at the Milimani Law Courts, ruled that it would be unfair for the LSK to force members to pay for the construction in order to receive their certificates.
