Kimani Ichungwa, one of President Uhuru Kenyatta's most trusted legislators, stated that the President can win the presidency without the support of his Deputy, William Ruto.

Speaking on a television program, Ichungwa said:

"In fact Uhuru doesn’t need Ruto at this time, he can win the presidency without his support"

and repeated

"Uhuru can win without Ruto’s support"

. This statement suggests that Uhuru may not be interested in having Ruto as his running mate in the future.

Gideon Moi Launches Attacks on Ruto

Gideon Moi, who recently announced that KANU will support Uhuru's re-election, has launched serious political attacks on Ruto. In Baringo, Gideon told Ruto:

"Let’s not talk about 2022 and let me whisper something to you (Ruto) you do not own the Kalenjin vote."

and

"Our support for Uhuru does not automatically mean we will support you in 2022"

.

These developments have led to speculation about Uhuru's intentions regarding Ruto's potential candidacy in 2022. It is alleged that Uhuru plans to use Ruto to secure the 1.9 million Kalenjin votes and then distance himself from Ruto to work with Gideon Moi instead.

Fears Among the Kikuyu Population

Information gathered suggests that the Kikuyu population fears Ruto. Wahome Thuku, one of Ruto's critics, expressed this sentiment in a Facebook post, stating that the Kikuyu community is being held captive by the Kalenjin and detects fear in their actions and words.

Thuku's post has been described as containing "gospel truth". The post implies that the GEMA community may not support Ruto in 2022 but could be willing to vote for Gideon Moi instead.
