In Bungoma, local leaders are urging the police to drop charges against Saleh Wanjala, also known as Sambaka, who was recently charged with endangering his life and the lives of others in a helicopter incident.

According to Bumula MP Bonface Ostula, the police should take responsibility for failing to secure the area before the incident occurred. He stated,

There is no complainant in this case. The helicopter pilot is not complaining, Wanjala’s relatives are also not complaining, just drop this case.

Ostula noted that the helicopter pilot had not provided a statement to support the case against Wanjala, who has been nicknamed ‘James Bond’ on social media. Wanjala has denied the charges and is currently out on free bond.

The legislator plans to mobilize other leaders from the area to support Wanjala.

The recovered account cited reporting by Mediamax.
