A lorry accident at Kiengu market on the Maua-Farm-Garbatulla Road in Meru resulted in the loss of six lives on Friday evening.

The lorry, which was traveling from Maua to Garbatulla, experienced mechanical issues before the driver lost control and collided with four vehicles parked by the roadside.

The truck was transporting both passengers and shop supplies at the time of the accident.

Witness Mutwiri told Saturday Nation that the vehicle was speeding when the accident occurred.

Garbattula Deputy County Commissioner Kipchumba Rutto stated that preliminary investigations suggested the truck's brakes had failed. According to Mr. Rutto, the accident involved a lorry carrying goods from Garbattula to Maua, which rammed four Toyota Proboxes, resulting in the deaths of six people.

Most of those injured were on top of the lorry and were taken to Maua Methodist Hospital for treatment.

The recovered account cited reporting by Nairobi News.
