At least three reporters from K24 TV network are being questioned by anti-terror police.
Journalist Purity Mwambia, Managing Editor Swahili Franklin Wambugu, and a driver called William are meeting with anti-terror detectives regarding an exposé titled 'Bweta La Uhalifu' scheduled to air.
The report allegedly features the investigative team bribing their way into GSU headquarters in Ruaraka with an improvised explosive device, which they later detonated in Ruiru using a Peugeot car they had purchased.
Context and Response ¶
According to the original account, police bosses are concerned that the exposé may undermine public trust in the government's ability to provide security, potentially affecting President Uhuru Kenyatta's ratings. Additionally, there are reports that the political class within the government wants the media house, associated with the President, to protect his image.
