Persons living with HIV/AIDS in Kenya are seeking increased funding for treatment, with a requested allocation of 2.5 billion shillings from both national and county governments.
According to Maureen Murenga, Assistant Director of the Kenya National Empowerment Network of people Living with HIV Aids, the withdrawal of donor organizations has hindered the network's ability to provide treatment to HIV/AIDS patients nationwide.
Murenga noted that the Nyanza region continues to have the highest number of HIV/AIDS cases, with a significant proportion of affected individuals being youths.
