A recent opinion poll conducted by Ahmednasir Abdullahi, a Jubilee Party lawyer, indicates that Farah Maalim of the Wiper Party is leading in the Garissa township constituency seat.

The poll, which was conducted on Abdullahi's Twitter account with 4,205 participants, shows Maalim with 50% of the votes, followed by incumbent MP Aden Duale of the Jubilee Party with 33%. Other candidates, including Nasir Dolal of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Captain Abdi Yarre of the Amani National Congress (ANC), trailed behind with 14% and 3% of the votes, respectively.

The poll suggests that Duale, who has been vocal against the opposition and its leader Raila Odinga, may face a tough challenge in retaining his seat in the August 2017 General Election.

According to Abdullahi's poll, Maalim's entry into the race has changed the political dynamics of the constituency, making it a highly contested seat.

The recovered account cited reporting by Tuko.
