A police officer was fatally shot in Kasarani during an ambush while responding to a public distress call on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:30am, about a kilometer from the local police station. The officer's colleague escaped injury.
Kenya Police spokesman Charles Owino stated that boda boda operators in the Sunton area had alerted authorities after being attacked by three armed men.
Two officers on night patrol rushed to the scene, where they were ambushed by gunmen. Constable John Meme was shot in the chest and died instantly.
"He was shot on the chest and died on the spot. Investigations have been launched but no one has been arrested," Charles Owino said
