Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria made a surprise appearance at a reggae concert in Nairobi on Saturday night, just hours after appearing on a live talk show on NTV.
Mr. Kuria had spent three nights in a police cell after being arrested on Tuesday along with seven other legislators over allegations of hate speech. They were arraigned in court on Friday and released on bond.
At the concert, which featured Jamaican reggae artiste Chronixx, Mr. Kuria freely mingled with the crowd before taking his seat in the VIP section. His bodyguards, however, kept reporters at bay.
Chronixx, whose real name is Jamar Rolando McNaughton Jr, performed to a crowd of enthusiastic fans at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC). The 24-year-old singer is popularly known for his hit song Here Comes Trouble.
Mr. Kuria's appearance at the concert came after a tumultuous week, during which he and his fellow legislators faced charges related to hate speech.
