A rumor circulated that Tanzanian artist Diamond Platinumz was to be paid Ksh1.2 million by the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) to perform at their awards gala night on October 20, Mashujaa Day.

Robert Alai reported that MCSK would pay Diamond Ksh1.2 million for his performance, while Kenyan artists would receive only Ksh50,000.

In response to these claims, Maurice Okoth, the CEO of MCSK, stated that Diamond is not performing at the event, but rather is an award winner.

In an interview with Mpasho, Okoth clarified the situation, saying,

"Diamond is not performing. He is an award winner."

This statement directly addresses the rumors surrounding Diamond's alleged payment for a performance.
