A first-year student and survivor of the Garissa University massacre has requested that authorities investigating the attack examine all surviving students, as some may have collaborated with Al Shabaab.
Amos Simiyu, speaking to the media, described how the terrorists would visit certain rooms to reload their guns when they ran out of ammunition.
Simiyu suggested that some students might have worked with Al Shabaab, using their rooms to store ammunition. He recalled hearing a terrorist ask about the location of stored ammunition, indicating possible insider involvement.
The attackers' familiarity with the campus and ability to navigate without error further supported the possibility of internal collaboration, according to Simiyu.
"I believe that the terrorists brought in the weapons earlier than the day of the attack. I could see them go to add their arsenal from some location within the dormitory as they asked where others had been kept," Simiyu said.
Simiyu also reported that the terrorists resorted to killing students with blades after exhausting their ammunition.
