Issack Hassan, the former chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), has found a new assignment after being removed from office over questionable integrity.
Hassan and his colleagues were removed following sustained street protests led by opposition leader Raila Odinga and other leaders, who were angered by the IEBC officials' alleged involvement in the Chickengate scandal.
According to Hassan, he is now helping Somalia's electoral body, the National Independent Electoral Commission of Somalia, in developing its strategic plan. He stated,
Together with my good friend Brown Makotsi, a guru in management, we successfully held the first of a series of workshops to assist the National Independent Electoral Commission of Somalia in the development of their strategic plan. The Somali team was led by the chairperson, Halima Ibrahim, and their CEO, Dr. Dahir Jibreel.
Hassan was previously cleared of any wrongdoing despite the allegations against him. His new role comes after Wafula Chebukati took over his position at the IEBC.
