Published on July 24, 2019, ASAP Rocky's mother, Renee Black, is pleading for her son's release from a Swedish jail. She believes Sweden may have it out for her son, who is still incarcerated after committing an alleged assault.
Prosecutors must decide whether to continue detaining him, but an investigation remains in its initial stages. According to regional law, Rocky can be held for as long as three days before appearing before a judge.
Following the release of footage purporting to show a fight between Rocky's team and the men he described as 'drug addicts,' Rocky shared footage of his own showing the men following him. He claimed they had been harassing him and 'slapping girls' butts' as they passed by on the street.
The Swedish authorities were also investigating one of the alleged victims on suspicion of abuse, assault, and attempted assault, but that's now been dropped with no charges being brought.
ASAP Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, remains detained in Sweden, and his mother has suggested he is being made an example of. President Donald Trump has promised to support his return to the US, but Ms. Black just wants her son home.
