A Tanzanian gambler was stoned to death in Eastleigh after killing two people and injuring a security guard at the City View Bar and Restaurant Casino.
According to the original account, John Barnabas Mchanga had lost Sh30,000 at the casino and went to the manager’s office to demand a free play. The manager, Winfred Mbuvi, turned down the request, which allegedly enraged Mchanga.
Mchanga then stabbed the manager multiple times using a Somali sword, killing her instantly. A security guard, James Lutea, who attempted to rescue her was also fatally stabbed.
Another security guard, Kevin Ogada, was stabbed twice on the shoulder while chasing Mchanga but was rescued by members of the public and is currently admitted to Aga Khan Hospital in serious condition.
The irate members of the public eventually stoned Mchanga to death. The three bodies were taken to the city mortuary.
Police officers from the Starehe Police Station, including OCPD Alice Kimeli and DCIO Kiberenge Seroney, visited the scene and interrogated staff.
