Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has spoken out against President Uhuru Kenyatta's swift defense of Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru, who is embroiled in a corruption scandal involving the National Youth Service (NYS).
President Kenyatta, through State House Spokesman, defended Waiguru against allegations that she attempted to siphon sh826 million from NYS with the help of shadowy companies linked to powerful people in the Jubilee Government.

Raila Odinga faulted President Kenyatta for defending Waiguru before investigations were concluded, stating that such a move could jeopardize any independent probe. He questioned why the President was being so protective of Waiguru, suggesting that they could be sharing the loot.
The President has no moral authority to declare an end to investigations or no investigations whatsoever where the public has reason to believe investigations as to go on. Unless the President is party to the murky business going on at NYS, he must keep off this scandal and allow thorough and independent audit, whose results must be shared with the public and explained by the investigating agencies. The Presidency is not an investigative agency. It does not and must not speak for the CBK or the CID.
Raila warned President Kenyatta to keep off NYS matters and let Waiguru face justice, lest people start to think otherwise.
