According to English journalist Victor Tinto, writing for goal.com, Victor Wanyama’s missed opportunity to switch clubs during the recently closed transfer window could benefit the Harambee Stars captain in the long run.

Tinto suggests that the Southampton midfielder may be in line for a significant move next summer, citing potential openings at top-tier clubs.

Wanyama had attempted to move to Tottenham Hotspur but was unsuccessful, despite submitting a transfer request and missing some competitive matches.

In his article, Tinto outlines the potential vacancies at major clubs, stating, "The reality is that next year, Arsenal will be looking for two defensive midfield players, with Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini likely leaving, Chelsea are said to be keen to get rid of Ramires and John Obi Mikel, while Lucas Leiva’s future is up for debate at Liverpool."

Tinto adds, "So if Wanyama does well this season, he may well get his chance of a move to the real big boys… no disrespect for Spurs."

However, Southampton intends to retain Wanyama, with plans to offer the 24-year-old a five-year contract extension.
