Ms Kanana Gichuru died in a car accident on the Eastern Bypass on September 22, 2015.

According to her Facebook post 10 days prior to the accident, Ms Gichuru wrote:

"Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting ‘HOLY CRAP!!!! WHAT A RIIIDEE…!

Known to her friends as Nana, she was described as free-spirited and someone who lived life on the fast lane, often driving at high speeds. She also owned a car that matched her love for speed.

Prior to her death, Ms Gichuru had been admitted to a hospital in South Africa due to a suspected breathing problem. She was also set to celebrate her wedding anniversary the following month.

The accident occurred when the car she was driving collided with a truck at Utawala on the Eastern Bypass, resulting in her death at the scene. Photos of the wreckage were widely shared online.

Following her death, friends and colleagues revealed her multiple talents, including being an actress, airline employee, photographer, singer, and blogger. Her passing sparked a trending hashtag #RIPNanaGichuru, with many Kenyans posting condolence messages and sharing memories of her.

While many praised her outgoing personality, some noted that her death may have been avoidable, possibly due to reckless driving.
