TV personality Betty Kyallo recently attended the South African premiere of Disney's Lion King movie, rubbing shoulders with other celebrities.
However, her excitement was short-lived as she made a comment that would spark a massive backlash from Tanzanians.
According to reports, Betty Kyallo commented that Tanzanians were excluded from the movie's events, despite the fact that the movie was shot in Kenya and featured several locations in the country, including Mt. Kenya, Aberdares, Borana Conservancy, Maasai Mara, and Tsavo East.
Her comment was met with fierce backlash from Tanzanians, who took to social media to express their outrage and disappointment.
One user, @bettymuteikyallo, responded to Betty Kyallo's comment, saying 'Did you just say MT Kenya? Oooh shame on you KILIMANJAROOO hunnny TANZANIA. LETS NOT GET THAT TWISTED!!! PRIDE ROCK WAS IN THE SERENGETI TANZANIAAAA.'
Another user, @alico_designer, chimed in, saying 'These Kenyans are so selfish achana nayo haya.'
However, not all Tanzanians were upset with Betty Kyallo's comment. One user, @v_isionary, responded by saying 'Sawa mama, Sema na kingine unachotaka kutoka Tz tukupeni maana vyoote vyenu maana na dodoma iko kenya.'
Despite the backlash, Betty Kyallo has not apologized for her comment. Instead, she has continued to defend her statement, saying that the movie was shot in Kenya and that Tanzanians were not featured in any of the movie's events.
However, this has only fueled the fire, with many Tanzanians continuing to express their outrage and disappointment on social media.
