An investigation by The Nairobian Newspaper found that some women at Kenyatta Hospital have resorted to offering sex for money due to detention over unpaid medical bills.
According to the investigation, these women, some of whom are married, engage in transactional sex to help clear their bills and secure release from the hospital. They reportedly receive between 300 and 1,000 Kenyan shillings for such encounters.
The situation has been described as sad and troubling, highlighting concerns about the well-being and exploitation of patients in need of medical care.
