Published on July 24, 2019, Allin Jua Kali made a statement in the 41st Kothbiro edition by defeating last year's finalist Githurai United 3-0 in the round of 16.
The team of mechanics took an early lead in the 3rd minute through captain Victor Ochieng, and their confidence grew as they terrorized Githurai's defense, scoring a second goal in the 20th minute through George Odhiambo.
Despite Githurai's strong comeback in the second half, they lacked the finishing strike force, with their shots landing on the crossbar or off target. Allin Jua Kali capitalized on the attacks, producing a counterattack that sealed their 3rd goal and solidified their lead.
According to team manager Chris Allindi, the team's underrating by opponents proved to be an advantage, allowing them to score early goals and unsettle their opponents.
“Most of the teams came in with the mentality they were facing a team of mechanics even to the point of not warming up before the match. We took advantage of the underrating to ensure we scored early goals in the game unsettling our opponents easily giving us the upper hand in the game.” Said Allin
