The 2015 champions, Nzoia, have advanced to the semifinals of the Kenya Primary School Ball Games and Gymnastics, along with Metropolitan and the winners of Pool B, Mau and Coast Regions.
Lake Region, the 2014 defending champions in boys' soccer, were eliminated after losing to Mau Region 3-1 and then to Coast Region 2-0 in their Pool B matches.
Pool A Match Highlights ¶
In a Pool A match, Nzoia defeated Northern Region 4-2, with Ali Osman from Garissa Primary school scoring the first goal at the 12th minute. Nicholus Simuyu from Sengeteti Primary School equalized for Nzoia at the 27th minute with a header.
Northern Region's Nuru Mohammed from Wajir Primary added his team's second goal at the 48th minute. However, Nzoia's team captain, Ngeywo Godwin from Bukenoi Primary School, secured the win with a goal at the 78th minute, saying,
We have a stronger team than last year and so our hopes of retaining the title are much higher.
Additional goals for Nzoia were scored by Chemenya Joseph of Korioshondet Primary School and Mogosa Alliance of Lokitaung Primary.
