A fatal accident occurred in Nairobi on Thursday night, involving two buses, one belonging to Embassava Sacco and the other to Forward Traveller, at the junction of Jogoo and Rabai roads in Eastlands.

According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), the accident happened when the Embassava bus, headed towards the Donholm roundabout, failed to obey traffic lights at around 6:30pm.

NTSA director Francis Meja stated,

The Public Service Vehicle belonging to Embassava Sacco was heading towards the Donholm roundabout and failed to obey the traffic lights. In an attempt to avoid hitting a vehicle which was from Rabai road, the driver swerved to his right side and lost control.

This led to a head-on collision with the Forward Sacco PSV. The driver of the Forward Sacco PSV died on the spot, while seven passengers were seriously injured and 14 others sustained slight injuries.

Meja attributed the fatal road crash to the driver of the Embassava Sacco Public Service vehicle, citing dangerous and careless driving. He emphasized that the crash was preventable.

Consequently, the driver of the Embassava Sacco will face charges in court, and NTSA may suspend the operating license of the culpable PSV Sacco.

The recovered account cited reporting by Nation.
