Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga received treatment for food poisoning at Karen Hospital on Wednesday, March 8th, according to his spokesman Dennis Onyango.

Onyango stated that Raila Odinga was treated and allowed to return home. Additionally, he mentioned that Odinga planned to travel to South Africa on Thursday to visit his daughter Rosemary, who was unwell.

Prior to his illness, Raila Odinga had a busy schedule, arriving from Nigeria and attending the burial of former Nyeri governor Nderitu Gachagua in Nyeri. Afterwards, he attended meetings at multiple hotels in Nairobi before experiencing health complications.

Kenyans on Facebook proposed several theories regarding the cause of Raila Odinga's food poisoning, including speculation about his diet during the funeral and other events.

Theories included suggestions that he may have eaten contaminated or spoiled food, such as mokimo or githeri, or possibly contracted food poisoning from other sources.

Some individuals, including Edward Mwenda, Drissie, Vumbiya Bahari, and others, offered various explanations, ranging from overeating to consuming specific types of food that may have caused the illness.

The recovered account cited reporting by Ghafla.
